Slavery

The issue over slavery was dividing the nation during the nineteenth century?  If you were president during this era, how would you solve the issue?  What sort of compromises would you try to find?  Explain.

  1. the first thing I would do is that I would take the people votes and see who is against slavery and who is a slave owner. If that would not work I would leave slave go. The compromise I would do is that if they want to be free they would have to join the war and win it

  2. If I was president in the nineteenth century,I would let the south have slaves if they pay them by hour and if they behave and do their job well they will have their freedom and the same rights that white citizens have.If not,the slave owners will be arrested and sentenced to death.

  3. If I was president during the nineteenth century I would make a vote for freedom for the African-Americans, if not many people voted against slavery I would have one day where the people who have slaves did the work that they make the slaves do for an entire day also giving them the same amount and type of food that they give the slaves also they same amount of rest that they give them. Then the next day I will make the vote again if not many people voted again I would make another day of them doing the same thing, if that docent get any success i would tell the slave owners at least don't hit them and don't separate the family's
